I knew from when I walked in the door the food was about to be fire! It’s got the old school feel with the old family photos and paint on the wall that has seen better days. I waited an hour for the Mac and cheese and let me tell you I had to pinch myself from thinking this plate was from my late Aunt Reba’s kitchen. This is the best soul food I’ve had in STL so far!
We were in town on business from New York, Nebraska and Chicago. We wanted soul food and were told to go here. Not only was the food amazing but the staff was too!!! Macaroni & Cheese was everything!!! We loved it all, greens, sweet potatoes, black eyed peas, smothered pork chops and last but not least the peach cobbler. I am just sorry we didn't get to try the banana pudding!! Next time because we will eat there again when we come to town!!
This restaurant had a family feel. The lady there is so sweet and funny. Love it and next time we come to visit I'm bringing the family. Hot Sauce was added by me
I wish I could rate this restaurant 10 stars!! The food was fresh and so delicious. Especially the spaghetti. Plenty of drink options. Also there were plenty of areas to sit and the tables were kept clean. I really enjoyed looking at the portraits on the wall as I made my way down the counter. Everyone was very friendly and I loved the cobbler samplers they were handing out. Can’t wait to return! :)
Best soul food in the whole in tire St Louis. If you though sweetie pies was good they are 100% better I guarantee it. Good ambiance. Great food. Friendly courteous service. The baked chicken is delicious. The mac and cheese is the right consistency. Cornbread is not too sweet and just moist enough. I highly recommend the peach and pear cobbler. And yes, they do serve Kool-Aid. If you visit at the right time, you might also get to meet "Mom," who is very gracious.
Good food. Lemon cake isn't good. Candy yams on point. Pork and Turkey Greens are delicious.
